The Lunar Calendar 2016 now available on Etsy, Ebay, Red Bubble and directly through this blog. To buy calendars just go to my Lunar Calendar Page.
The Lunar Calendar 2016 has the Brown Hare and Brown Bear as emblems for the Northern Hemisphere and the beautiful Australian Red Tailed Black Cockatoo as the emblem for the Southern Hemisphere.
The lunar calendar is a single sheet wallchart calendar printed on 300gsm satin board.
The four quarters of the moon, full, waning, new and waxing are dated in each month of each Hemisphere.
The Celtic sabbats are listed against their corresponding months in the opposing hemispheres, so while folks in the Northern Hemisphere will be basking in midsummer sunlight of Lithia at the June Solstice, those in the Southern Hemisphere can celebrate Yule at their Winter Solstice.
The Vernal Equinox, Summer Solstice, Autumn Equinox and Winter Solstice are represented for both Hemispheres.
Three special moons are flagged for 2016.
An April MICRO MOON. This occurs as the moon is at its furthest position from the Earth ‘apogee’ at the full moon phase.
A May BLUE MOON. The third full moon of a season that has four full moons.
A November SUPER FULL MOON. This occurs when the moon is at its closest possible position to the Earth ‘perigee’ during the phase of the full moon.
The 2016 edition features an extract from ‘Night’ by the poet and visionary artist William Blake. ‘Night’ was written in 1789.

A big thank you to all the children who came to the book jacket workshop in our local library. They all took the challenge of creating an illustrated book cover and in a very short space of time, produced some beautiful pieces. They used silhouette paper cuts, collage, markers and coloured pencils. We focused on three classic fairy tales; Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Bears and Beauty and The Beast. We had a very imaginative group and many children made covers for other stories and even their own stories where they had to think about creating their own text.
